 An activity or service provider provider might ask participants to sign this type of release before they engage in the activity or event. By signing the release, participants acknowledge the potential for property loss or personal injury as a result of the activity, and agree not to hold the activity provider liable in the event of a dispute.

In general, a Release of Liability is a legally binding contract in which one or two parties in the agreement waive their right to sue.
